Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel is expected to announced a plan that could give the Blue Demons -- who have played at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill., since 1980 -- a new 12,000-seat arena in the city, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Monday.
The new Big East will play with 10 members in 2013-14, sources told ESPN.com Friday night. The 10 members will be DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette, Providence, Seton Hall, St. John's and Villanova, Xavier, Butler and Creighton.
The presidents of the Big East's seven Catholic schools met with their athletic directors in New York on Wednesday and will announce new membership for the new Big East within 7-10 days, according to a source.
Breanna Stewart scored 21 points to lead a balanced offense and No. 3 Connecticut bounced back from its loss to Notre Dame with a 94-61 win over DePaul in the quarterfinals of the Big East tournament Sunday night.
