The NFL seems to be heading for a prizefight with no prize. Despite a great year, it allowed labor acrimony to cloud the majesty of two of its oldest franchises playing for a title.
On balance, the system worked. Michael Vick and society both won. Vick served his time in the federal penitentiary. Then he was given a second chance. He was not handed an NFL starting job, but had to earn it.
Michael Vick is back in the NFL, but he's a long way from being able to 'move on' beyond his past.
