Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the 1990s rolled out the red carpet for two heavy hitters: track president Anton H. "Tony" George and four-time Indy 500 winner Rick Mears.

New CEO Randy Bernard said Friday the IRL will make an announcement in the next two weeks about adding excitement to races outside of the Indianapolis 500.
