John Challis is pale, weak and sick from liver cancer, but the former athlete recently graduated from high school and is starting a foundation that will arrange sports trips for sick children to meet their favorite athletes.

John Challis wanted to go away to college and lift weights until he was big and strong. Liver cancer changed all that. But as ESPN.com's Elizabeth Merrill writes, Challis remains an inspiration to his friends and teammates at Freedom High in Pennsylvania.
