Syracuse upended top seed North Carolina on Friday to face the defending champion UConn Huskies for the NCAA field hockey championship this Sunday.
North Carolina's Tar Heels came into the field hockey championship game as the No. 1 seed and winners of 20 in a row. But Princeton's 3-2 win gave the Ivy League school the title, the first by a non-ACC team since Michigan won it in 2001.
It will be the Tar Heels (23-1) versus Princeton (20-1) playing for a title at 1 p.m. Sunday at Old Dominion University's L.R. Hill Field.
