Under-pressure Sampdoria coach Ciro Ferrara has said he will not resign despite seeing his team slump to a seventh consecutive defeat.

The fallout from the Italian Super Cup has continued with Napoli's Walter Mazzarri revealing he almost quit his job after the defeat to Juventus which saw Goran Pandev, Juan Zuniga and the coach himself all sent off.

Following the announcement of the trial verdicts in the Italian match-fixing case, Juventus director general Beppe Marotta has claimed Antonio Conte and assistant Angelo Alessio are both innocent and that earlier reports the coach was set to resign are "absolutely unfounded".

There were conflicting reports in the Italian press on Wednesday concerning the future of Juventus coach Antonio Conte, with a number of outlets speculating he could resign if he is banned for 10 months in his upcoming betting trial.
