It took just more than 40 hours to swim between two Caribbean Islands, but the grandmother toughed it out and set a world record -- with help from sweet stuff.
The former World Cup open-water champion bested a field of 34 other competitors -- male and female -- to win the Manhattan Island Marathon Swim on Saturday.
This weekend, 35 swimmers will brave the waters around New York City in the annual Manhattan Island Marathon swim. It will take nearly seven hours. Can a woman come out on top?
