The Golden State Warriors on Friday confirmed their interest in operating a WNBA franchise, a day after the league announced that the Los Angeles Sparks ownership group has ceased operations of the team and laid off all front-office employees.
WNBA president Laurel Richie wouldn't speculate on whether the Sparks might be able to stay in Los Angeles but said the league has already been in touch with some "very capable folks out there expressing interest" in the team.
